Controller Evolution
Controller Evolution, a photo by ChrisKoelsch on Flickr.
Created this tonight in Adobe Illustrator just for fun. I wanted to do something similar a while ago but really couldn't pull it off yet. This was a lot of fun to make and I hope to make an animation for it.

Justin White
Recently stumbled upon Justin White and I love his quirky and hilarious work. He has a way of getting subtle personality traits into all of his characters and that is a technique not easily achieved.

Community Project: Vectortuts+ Custom Character Jam Part 2
I recently finished my submission for the Vectortuts+ Community Project and I must say I am pretty happy with it. Something tells me I watch too much TV.
This 'n That
Just recently updated the blog. Check out the My Work section to see specific works of mine. I also created some simple icons for fun in Illustrator to use as navigation.

5 Second Project: Behind the Scenes
Grey Scale Gorilla has brought us a new 5 Second Project, and I think I am actually going to participate in this one. I will keep you updated as I proceed.

Lately I have had what appears to be an obsession with stuntmen. I don't know what started it, but some pretty interesting things have come out of it. Long ago I started a short animation with the character Stuntman Biff. I decided to explore this character a little deeper to see what I could come up with.
I started out by creating a business card (see fig. 1, 2) because let's be honest, Stuntman Biff isn't getting any work unless he gets his name out there. I then sketched and created two completely different renderings of Biff in Adobe Illustrator. One more on the cartoon side (see fig. 3) and the other a more realistic rendering (see fig. 4). Creating characters was fun but I knew I wanted to make another animation, a "how-to" stuntman if you will. As if Stuntman Biff had his own home series for wanna-be stuntmen. I went into Illustrator and created some basic assets that any stuntman would need (see fig. 5). I wanted to keep the color scheme simple to appear more like a blue print of sorts. After I composed the stunt I wanted (see fig. 6), it was off to Apple Motion to animate and the rest was history. Now hopefully I can move on from this Stuntman Mania.

Buzz
Wanted to try out the Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3 with a Canon 7D to make a quick time lapse of me getting my hair buzzed. This little ditty is the result.
Stop
An amazing comment on motion graphics today from Andrew Serkin. I see a lot of stuff like this on the internet and we see this happen all the time in the digital arts field. Ten years ago people were saying this about Photoshop filters and ten years from now it will be something else. None the less this is an amazing piece because it takes a trend and manipulates it into something new.
Aquadettes
Another amazing story from the great people at California is a Place. I don't think these guys have made a video I didn't like. Please check out more of their work!

Ink Reveal Test
The Tuts+ Network can be a great place to find tutorials on almost any subject. This particular piece was inspired by this tutorial from the site. It is also where I acquired all the ink reveals used to make it. Check it out!

The Gates Foundation "Reinventing the Toilet"
This piece from Loaded Pictures discusses how 4 out of 10 people worldwide don't have a safe way to poop. Simply put, this causes problems.
Chicago's Air of Supremacy
This awesome video comes straight from one of my buddies David Ayling. His friends, Nordic Thunder and Dry Ice, wanted to get some Air Guitarists together in preparation for the 2011 National contest. Enough said.

Spencer Charles
It is not hard to notice but I have an affinity for space imagery. This beautiful design, Map of the Known Universe, by Spencer Charles really hits the sweet spot. It was designed for Greenwood Space Travel Supply and I really appreciate how artistically he handled everything, such as the color scheme and style, while still making it informative.
