NEW SHIRT - Jive Turkey

Hadn't made a shirt in a long while and this just randomly popped into my head while driving to work one day. That's usually when I get my best ideas as you can see.  Anyway I submitted this to Threadless just for fun and they didn't even put it up for scoring. Said I needed to get critiqued using their fancy online critique system (where undoubtedly their community would tell me to add more zombies and ninjas) and it wasn't up to their standards. So being both lazy and not lazy at the same time I decided to just print it myself, because I like it just the way it is.

According to Urban Dictionary, a Jive turkey is:
A) One who speaks as though they know what they're talking about...though they do not.
B) a bullshitter.

So if you know someone like that, why not buy them this shirt to passive aggressively let them know? Just visit my store here if you'd like to buy.

WellDone

In East Africa, WellDone provides materials and education so villagers can build their own wells. These DIY wells last longer, are less expensive to build, and help communities stay connected. This celebration of water has helped more than 30,000 people work towards self-sufficiency, develop pride in their work, and grow healthier. Threadless has recently put on a challenge to design a logo for WellDone's cause. Below is my attempt. After researching some of their work I came across a lot of pictures of hands cupping water. I found the image very powerful and this became the basis for my design. Another theme in the design is the contrasting elements of smooth and rough. The heart and water are both smooth, life giving elements, while the hands are rough, earthy, and textured. I did this to emphasize the great impact that water can have in these harsh environments. If you like my design please vote for it here.

You heard me, I said Help Ink!! Why are you just sitting around reading my blog when you could go to Help Ink right now and start learning more.  Help Ink is an amazing collaborative site filled with brilliant artists and designers all selling their work to help raise money for charity.  Each week, an exclusive piece of art, designed to inspire others to do good in the world, will be released and made available for purchase.  So not only does this site do a good job of keeping its fans updated with the newest and slickest work, it also gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside when you purchase something, because you know it's actually going to help a bigger cause.

Two New Shirts - A Sacred City and A Sexy Killer

That's right, ask and you shall receive. Ok, so nobody asked, but I don't make shit just because people ask for it. I made these two beautiful shirts just because I felt like it, and you just get to be lucky enough to purchase one from my store if you so choose.

Ninja Pin Up
This first shirt came as a product of a Threadless contest on pin-ups. Seeing as how Threadless never chooses my designs I had to go ahead and print this myself. Totally worth it.

Holy Toledo
The second shirt was inspired by none other than my hometown Toledo, Ohio. Most people from here can't wait to get away, and although I admit it can be a bit of a drag here in the Midwest, it will always be my home.

The Dungeon Manager

This idea came from Lisa mistaking DM for meaning Dungeon Manager. And as all nerds know it means Dungeon Master, but give her a break, it makes for a funny image.

Two NEW Shirts - Learn to Macarena & Do it to it, Lars

To kick off this week I have two new shirts, and one is a very special movie quote shirt. You can buy them at the store here.

This first idea I came up with a while ago. I recently dusted it off, added the logo and decided it was t-shirt ready. It is called, Learn to Macarena.

The second shirt was a movie quote request from my girlfriend, Lisa. She has a soft spot for the movie Heavyweights. I really enjoyed the quote for design purposes. Inspiration came from one of my favorite t-shirt designs, Frankie Says Relax.

Space Pin Up

So Threadless has a new challenge that I am submitting to. It is the Threadless Loves Pin Ups challenge. The only requirement is to take inspiration from old pin up posters. So I decided I want to create a "Greetings from" postcard design but put a space theme on it. Here is a time lapse of me creating the pin up girl I'm using in the design. Keep watching for the final piece.

NEW MOVIE QUOTE SHIRT - Clever Girl...

This one comes as a request of my brother-in-law. When I came up with the idea of doing movie quote shirts I asked a few of my relatives what theirs would be and this happened to be his. A classic line from the epic Jurassic Park.  Watch the clip here. Buy the shirt here.

NEW SHIRT - The Break Room

Yes, that's correct. Another shirt has been added to the store which makes a grand total of 4. But you have to start somewhere I guess. This was the design I was most excited to print when I started and although it took me some time to get the print just right it was totally worth it.

This 'n That and some $20 shirts

Yes, you heard right. I have finally gotten my feet wet in the shirt printing bizz. I think that's what they call it in the bizz. Anywho, either click on the shirt banner at the top of the page or on the right hand side where it says and some $20 shirts to see what it's all about. I must admit it's a little small right now but hopefully over time as interest builds I can continue to make shirts and maybe even make a few bucks while I'm at it. Here's to a good new year.

Make sure to keep on a lookout for the Shirt of the Month and new Movie Quote Shirts.
