Animations In My Professional Work

At work the majority of videos we produce are for client work.  Sometimes it can be difficult to do something outside of the ordinary when you have a rigid client who mainly wants to get the message across.  Every so often we get to do RFP work, which is essentially entering our own work into a competition with other businesses to win client work.  The following two pieces were created for RFP work recently and each gave me the chance to do something in my own style in the work place.

The Submarine Channel does a brief interview with Orion Tait from Buck and we get a little peak at their process as well as what makes them so kick ass.

Photos from the Road

Here are a few of my favorite photos that I took on my trip to Sedona with Lisa. I also had to throw one of Lisa's in there because it makes me look so great.

Happy Happy Yay Yay

The title pretty much says it all. This animation from Mel Roach will both make you happy happy while simultaneously screaming yay yay. Trust me, just watch.

Frame of Mind

Well done little "frame" piece by Ben Boutwell and Steven Alan.

Joe Goes...

Joe goes just about everywhere. I found these amazing videos from Badge of Shame today. Basically they follow Joe to different expos as he asks the hard hitting questions that others are too afraid to. Here are a few of my favorites...

Eric Hanson

Really loving the raw illustrations from Eric Hanson. Their playful and light hearted style remind me of something straight out of a French 101 book or something, and that is totally meant to be a compliment.

Nature's Own Steadicam

Nice idea for a steadicam.

Greetings from Port Hope

My work buddy, Dave Ayling, and I were recently on a business trip to Canada to capture some interviews. Unfortunately for us while we were in Port Hope, Ontario our flight out was canceled. So, stuck in the tiny town we did what any two videographers with a slew of camera equipment would - we made a tribute video. Please enjoy the following video of the amazingly quirky town of Port Hope.

Two New Shirts - A Sacred City and A Sexy Killer

That's right, ask and you shall receive. Ok, so nobody asked, but I don't make shit just because people ask for it. I made these two beautiful shirts just because I felt like it, and you just get to be lucky enough to purchase one from my store if you so choose.

Ninja Pin Up
This first shirt came as a product of a Threadless contest on pin-ups. Seeing as how Threadless never chooses my designs I had to go ahead and print this myself. Totally worth it.

Holy Toledo
The second shirt was inspired by none other than my hometown Toledo, Ohio. Most people from here can't wait to get away, and although I admit it can be a bit of a drag here in the Midwest, it will always be my home.

Logo Animation

For a while now I have been wanting to animated this blog's logo. Well it just so happens I made the time so here it is. Enjoy.

Dan Cassaro

Just a reminder, Dan Cassaro is still awesome.

The Kraken Existence

This little ad for The Kraken Black Spiced Rum comes from Adam Gault Studio. I already love the branding to begin with so seeing it come to life only adds to that. It must have been a joy to animate with.

Record Recycle

I have a lot of old records and I am in love with old album art. I was recently thinking of how I could make something out of this when I came across the work of Christian Marclay. He does collages with various record albums. I love the idea and I'm thinking I need to make one of these sometime soon.

Matthias Heiderich

Some amazingly clean photography from Matthias Heiderich. His work is always well composed and I really enjoy his color palette. I would love to see his work with some text incorporated. For more visit his site here.

Magocoro Gif Motion

Although they are short .gifs there are some really interesting animations at Magocoro Gif Motion.  A good site if you wanna see some quick examples of slick transitions.
