Crack The Surface - Episode I

An interesting beginning to a series of short documentaries focusing on the culture of Urban Exploring, those who risk it all to access and infiltrate closed or forgotten spaces. Must say it would be fun to do this one.

le droit de suite (the resale right)

It can be difficult to tell a complicated story in a way everyone can understand. Pierre-Emmanuel Lyet brings us this is a very clean and crisp animation using some amazing typography. Both fun and entertaining this video is very informational and easy to follow. I suggest you check out the rest of his work here.

The Curious Brain

I am really happy to announce that one of my recent videos, found here, has been shared on the blog, The Curious Brain.  This is a great blog to find new video, art, and illustration. I have followed this blog for a while and I am very honored to be shared on it.

Sur le Quai

A sexy little music video for Les Mains Ensorcelées new song "Sur le Quai". More than anything I really enjoy the colors and backgrounds of this piece.

Get Real, Get Right

I have always been a big fan Sufjan Steven's music. It is interesting to see his creative talents used in the direction and animation of this piece. You can purchase MAKE on DVD, the documentary that inspired Sufjan Stevens' The Age of Adz and tells the story of several artists including Royal Robertson, here.

Come Fly With Us

I wanted to post this video from David Hendrix not only because it is well animated but also because of the simple idea behind it. David bought a 3D rendering of a Boeing B307 Stratoliner (found here). Then, using Cinema 4D, he textured and animated it to maximize its potential. Great job!

The Glitch Mob - Nalepa Monday Remix

Nothing revs my engine much like video appropriation. I love remixing and re purposing old footage to create something totally new and never before seen. This music video from Michael Shainblum takes old government bomb testing footage and gives it new life. The images are powerful and the music and pacing really give the whole video an eerie feeling. Make sure you check out more of Michael's awesome work by clicking on his name above.

This photo is from Live Feed, a portrait series of people who have come to the Black Belt region of the United States to offer their service. They are taken (with a Tachihara 4x5 camera using Fuji Instant Film) with their body integrated into the television to reference an outsiders perspective and understanding of social issues in foreign places, etc. Full statement of series will be on my site soon with a few more portraits.

This in-progress series along with Second Chance Kids, But Also Dream Not Only and a few photos from 36744 will be on display in NY on June 13th through the wonderful organization forbyfor.org/

o2 Think Big

I see a lot of infographic and informational animation ads these days but this one from Sehsucht™ struck me as different. The lo-fi quality and pure simplicity are visually striking and I love the idea. For more information on this great project go to o2thinkbig.de or o2thinkbig.co.uk/en/

Chromeo and Daryl Hall

So I couldn't resist telling this story.  I was recently buying Chromeo's newest album, Business Casual, on iTunes when I found out I had money left over for one more song, so I decided to buy "Sara Smile" by Hall & Oats, a classic. Later on I was perusing the many fine music videos on Chromeo's site and I came across the video above which, low and behold, features a collaboration with Chromeo and Daryl Hall singing "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" I guess I have good taste

Miss Cupcake Part 2

Now we all know I couldn't possibly create a character and not do some dumb animation with it. So here is my short called, Miss Cupcake, which I created using Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. Enjoy.
