Contests and Competitions

Alright let's be honest.  Entering your work into contests and competitions is great for many reasons.  For one it usually gives you some parameters to work against, and that always boosts creativity when you're in a rut.  Secondly it keeps your skills sharp and lastly it is just a great way to get your name out there.  I recently stumbled upon the Horror III design competition on Threadless and I think I will be entering this one.
